Create graphics in Word, PowerPoint, or Visio. Save as GIF. Import by
reference to Frame. Fast, easy, crisp.

And not scalable. Which means that it doesn't look good on a printer (unless you create the GIF at a very high resolution, which means unnecessarily high volumes of data). And it doesn't look good in PDF when you zoom in.

And GIF doesn't support more than 256 colors, which may or may not be a problem, depending on the kind of graphics. Drop shadows, e.g., become risky at best.

And GIF cannot be edited except in the most rudimentary way. While EPS does not offer all the bells and whistles of Visio, at least it is simple to change text or move graphic elements. With GIF, you always need to return to the original graphic. Now where did I put that file...

Bottom line: I'd really, really stay away from entombing vector graphics in bitmap formats (all the problems except the color limit apply to BMP, Tiff, JPEG, and PNG as well).

Regards
Jan Henning
