Call a duck a duck and a spade a spade.

You can't lump desktop development and Java
development into the same bucket. Java development
might actually be considered Web development in some
situations.

Cater to your Web developers, your desktop developers,
your API developers, your Java developers, and any
other types of developers individually. Lumping
several into one bucket will cause confusion on their
part, and possibly resentment.
