It's technical, and it's communication, so I'm posting it:

I'm currently part of a small virtual team. We had been conducting weekly
team meetings over a conference calling service that charged 30 cents/minute
per caller. I located a voice chat application that works over our existing
broadband connections and completely replaced the paid service.

The advantages of Picophone are:
1. free
2. no registration, and no central server (IP-to-IP voicechat)
3. best sound quality in all the apps I evaluated
4. simple and lightweight
5. requires only 1 port (UDP), as opposed to the thousands of ports required
by NetMeeting and other apps
6. plays nice with NAT routers

Now we use Picophone for our weekly meetings and ad hoc discussions. It
works great - probably not good enough quality for client communications,
but fine for internal meetings. You'll need a decent headset/mic.
