Yeah, ummm.. I'm gonna have to go and disagree there. (to paraphrase "Office

If Adobe came out and said "You better believe we are hard to at work
developing FM 8.0/CS", we would, as a collective group, start pestering Dov
about when it will be ready, why it isn't ready now, and will the footnote
shortcoming FINALLY be addressed? <g>

Software development (for those who haven't worked in it) is usually done
under incredible secrecy. This protects the company (somewhat) from
industrial espionage, it allows the project team to change the specs and
technical details as it all gets developed, and more. It also protects the
sales team. If people know for sure that a enw release is coming and several
bugs and enhancement requests are being delivered (probably) then sales has
a very tough time selling the current product. If that happens, then the
development of the new product may not have enough cash to complete.

If you are skeptical, send Microsoft, for example, an email asking them
about the next release of Windows or Office. You'll get pretty much the same
reply. There are times when companies simply won't be able to (or be willing
to) divulge proprietary development details.

Of course, I neither work for Adobe nor speak for them.
