I'm concentrating my research into future tools on XML and
its potential successors. I've always been uncomfortable
with the idea that my continued ability to access and use
my legacy data depends on proprietary formats, and having
spent the past few years being able to generate deliverables
like Winhelp and HTML using competing manufacturers' tools
convinces me that our next step should be to an industry
standardized format that won't be dependent on a particular
tool manufacturer.
