I haven't run any of the specific applications you mentioned inside of
VMWare, but I've found it to be overall a pretty decent tool. The
performance can be a bit sluggy at times, unless you have a LOT of RAM on
your machine, but that pretty much goes without saying on virtualized
As for the stability, I had a friend who (just to say she could) ran VMWare
emulating a Windows 2000 session inside of a VMWare session emulating Linux
on a Windows XP system. It was only slightly faster in *that* configuration
than a dead turtle crawling across a freeway, but I thought the fact that it
worked at all was a testament to the relative stability of the software.
