So? If it works, why reinvent the wheel? Personally, I think it's a really
good way to LEARN something--start out by "tweaking the example", realize
you need a bit more, find out that bit more, and end up building on it
until--surprise!--you're the go-to expert. It sounds like learning by
doing to me.
