BTW, Don't yell "Fire" in a theater, don't wail "We're
gonna crash" in an airplane either. It is
emphatically not funny (NF), and people will genuinely
suffer because of your humor. Best just to realize that it
is never OK. Never do it. I hope you understand..
---------------------------------------------------

Steven:
It's OK. Your detractors are right - this isn't a place for a piece like the
one you wrote.

This is a place for people to drone on and on about something that happened
to them in an interview once.

Or, to drone on and on about why you should or shouldn't go to XML training
and why the original post's author didn't phrase his question properly.

Or, to drone on and on about how you've "been there, done that" (faster,
earlier, better) than the last author who claimed that they've been there
and done that.

Or, to publicly call out an individual, *in your opinion*, posted something
inappropriate.

Bonnie:
Professional humorists joke about very real dangers and very real tragedies
all the time. I can provide examples.

Ned:
Sorry you're still shellshocked about your "duck and cover" drills, but
comparing this to yelling "Fire" in a theater, etc. is completely off base.
If you thought Steven's original post was a legitimate declaration of
danger, then I'd love to hear how you came to this conclusion. "Genuinely
suffered"? Do you know what "genuine" and "suffer" mean?

Also, it is best for you to realize that a public forum is no place for you
to decide what should "never" be discussed. Your dinner table? Absolutely.
Public forums? I'll stop just short of saying that you should "never do it".

Don't sweat it too much, Steven. Out of 5,000 members (or whatever this
forum boasts), only three take themselves (and you) too seriously.
