Most companys don't embrace the work-at-home approach for some reason. I worked from home for Compaq for two years and I was much more productive, even prolific as a writer. No phones, no meetings and no distractions. If I wanted to take a break, I would just go out and mow the lawn or work with the horses. Although sometimes I would find myself around 2:00 pm, wondering if I had brushed my teeth that morning. Anyway, I think it is a control and trust thing. I do work from home here occasionally but my supervisor is somewhat reluctant to approve. He asked that I create some sort of work log showing the work I had done. That was six months ago and he still hasn't asked to see it. I you can show how much you actually get done at home maybe they will extend the trust.
