There might be some interest here in today's New York Times article "Looking
for the Eureka! Button." It's about hidden features and the disappearance
of manufacturer-supplied manuals for computers and other consumer products.
I wouldn't call it a great article, but it's interesting to get a mainstream
view of these topics.
