I maintain that if this is how you are going to propose to management
that you should change authoring applications, this is wrong approach
and prone to failure.

Why? What someone else used to convince their management usualy
doesn't have anything to do with why you should.

Understand...this is coming from someone (me) who has three times
(out of three) convinced his management to change. How?

Identify a maximum of 6 instances at YOUR location where Word is
causing you to miss deadlines, is inefficient, and causing you from
producing the best product you can and then identify the six features
of FM that will solve the problems.

Your management doesn't care about books. It cares about what books
can do for THEM. It doesn't care about large document management. It
cares about what large document management can do for THEM.

Put it in terms with which THEY can identify. Put it in nice, short,
tight document with an abstract, summary, and plan of implementation.
It would also hel;p if you can, with them knowing, slide in a
document done in FM, then if they balk, you can turn around and say
"Bill..you know the deliverable that just went out that you liked?
That was done in FM."

and good luck.
