Is this a miracle or did Word actually do something helpful for a change?

Due to a bit of bad planning, I ended up with two copies of a table in
MS Word, each of which had a different set of revisions made to it.
We'll call them A1 and A2. Rather than making all of A1's revisions to
A2, or vice versa, I decided to copy the contents of A1 into A2, and
sort the result, the idea being that, in most cases, the unrevised and
revised rows would be right next to each other, and in all cases, I
could just delete the unrevised version. I was resigned to having to go
through and manually delete all duplicate rows.

BUT

Lo and behold, there were only a few duplicate rows to be found. Did
Word actually do the deletion for me as part of the sort? And if so,
why did it skip several of the duplicates? The only answer to that I
can think of is that there was some difference I couldn't see.
