My apologies, I may not have been as succinct as I should have been
concerning the hidden text.

I am referring to Indexing text (i.e., { XE ?General Maintenance? }). I
can turn this off by going to Tools-> Options -> View, then check off
?hidden text? under the formatting masks section.

The individual documents do not show the hidden text, nor does the master,
it is only after I expand the master that this shows up.

I hope this clears things up.

This is for an external customer.
