Hi Ashaki,

A good technical communicator (which has been another
job title for technical writer) understands what
medium is best suited for a particular information set
and audience. Although we tech writers are often
associated with printed manuals and online help, the
best way to communicate may in fact be a video or an
audio file. So no, I don't think it's unusual to
consider Excel as a tool for capturing and delivering
"documentation."
