The lesson here is to speak truth to power, to tell your Project Lead the truth about your capabilities

This is so true. I can think of nothing worse for a new tech writer than to be thrown into the 'spin cycle' -- it is a painful and humiliating experience to be saddled with deadlines and requirements that you can't possibly meet. While surviving such a project can be formative, it can also leave a tech writer scarred with a bad reputation.

So, good call Chuck. Your advice may sound gnarly but your concern for the troubled writer, and for professional values, is plainly evident.

Party on.
