I am formatting a French version of one of my manuals. I don't know
French, I'm just comparing it side by side to the English version and
making sure page breaks are logical, figure captions don't flow to the
next page, and that sort of thing. (In case you're wondering, it's less
expensive for me to do it than for the translator to do it, and they do a
final proofread after I'm done to ensure accuracy.)

I've done this for many Spanish projects and even a couple of Korean
manuals, but this is the first time I've done it for a French manual. I'm
surprised by the extremely ragged right edges that are resulting, because
many of the French words are so long.

I don't have time to make adjustments for this project, but am interested
in knowing for future projects (and it may apply to other languages than
just French)--are there special ways to make the page look more even? Or
are people used to seeing it like this, and I shouldn't be concerned?

Thanks,
Lisa B.
