That's really what it's all about, isn't it? Loyalty is a funny thing. An
employer can experience loyalty in a lot of ways, including a "heads up"
when "stuff" is flying because the employee is someplace the employer can't
be.

You only get loyalty if you've earned it, and a salary for an honest day's
work is only one of many steps toward earning it. Working for your own,
indirect best interest means fighting for $145/year per employee to ensure
their growth, then feeling entitled to an annual justification report about
what they learned through their participation.

BTW: Budget the dollars and send them to the annual conference with a plan.
What do you want them to learn? What would benefit them - and you - most?
Take a look at this year's annual conference program. It's pretty robust,
and I didn't see any "job seeking advice" type sessions in there (I'm not
saying there aren't any, just that I didn't see any.)
