Some time ago, as part of a course, I surveyed company opinion on the
docs they produced (UK only) and how important they rated them 1 (v
important) - 9 (docs?). Most companies were in the 1-3 group who saw
docs as an integral part of the product. One company said 9 - we HAVE to
deliver docs (in the contract) and that was the only reason they did it.
Seems like the company you're with is in that end of the scale.

I have played catch-up before but usually on VERY large projects and the
customer always had beta doc and the full docs were always (nearly
always <g>) ready for the 'official' release.

I'd give it a few months but, in the meantime, I'd be looking elsewhere
and move if the chance comes up.

Good luck
