What's wrong with discrimination? I thought the entire _purpose_ of conducting interviews was to discriminate--to rank candidates according to their suitability for the job. If you're not going to discriminate among candidates, why not just hire the first person who shows up? Yes, a test is discriminatory; and bully for that!
The place where discrimination becomes a problem is where the basis for discrimination has nothing to do with the ability to do the job.
As professional writers, we need to be able to produce quality work in the required language in a reasonable period of time. OK, that may create some additional hurdles for a lot of immigrants who don't communicate the required language very well. But where the ability to communicate in the required language is a necessary part of the job, I think it is justified.
