In instances where prospective employers think tech writers are
the equivalent of clerical employees, certifications will most likely
be ignored just as university degrees are now, so sure, they
probably wouldn't do any harm and any good they might do would
be a plus. Generally, any situation in which documentation people
are being evaluated by non-documentation people, there is a
potential to impress by credential.
