And let me add my take on that point. "Any job" means just that. A first job does not have to be directly in the field you trained for (technical writing) for it to be valuable experience. It would be great if you could find a job in a writing group. But if you take an entry-level job of any kind in a company that at least _has_ tech writers, you can still learn a lot. Failing that, a job of any kind with a company that makes stuff or that provides services to corporate clients will teach you plenty, too. And there's nothing wrong with flipping burgers, either, if that's what it takes to keep you off the streets.
