Many people seeing my name in print or my face approach
me expecting a person with a foreign accent. When these
folks hear my "Soprano-ish" NJ voice, first they're surprised,
then sometimes a bit intimidated. I usually try to milk both
for all they're worth. :)
It's not just Southern accents that are so ridiculed. Those of us with
New York accents are often looked upon as Soprano-ish gangsters or
uneducated muggers
