My turn to have been unclear. The article says:

XML and HTML are not Siblings. HTML is a child of SGML. XML I suppose is
the little brother of SGML. XHTML would be a cousin of HTML.

XHTML, CML, DITA, and all the other XML compliant languages would all be
siblings.

I get the feeling the family relationship discussion gets confusing
quickly. ;)
