I can confirm this as I had the exact same problem. I first went to a
chiropractor because I was sitting in the dentist's chair having a root
canal and all I could think of was my aching neck. Turns out, the curvature
in my upper spine, which should be about a 40-degree arc, was only about 10
degrees. Getting it back into shape was a long process, so I very careful to
keep my head up.

When you're young, your body forgives your indiscretions; when you get to be
my age, it gets down-right vindictive!  ;-)
