I've sometimes gotten out of those messes by hitting Undo a zillion
times, sweat dripping from my brow. Don't forget to copy off your new
work somewhere first, otherwise you'll lose that too. But it's too late
for Undo once you close the app.

But first you said Visio, then you said Word. What exactly happened?
Were you editing an embedded diagram?
