Do not fear for your future. You are only disadvantaged if you insist upon employment in programming (and even that is variable). Spending some time learning a little programming theory could help your career (and look great on a resume), but it's hardly a requirement.

If you're worried, take a look at some of the ads for tech writing jobs. Based upon what you've said about your degree program, I think you're on-track. Just keep your expections reasonable.
