Re: New TECHWR-L Poll - ADD
Right -- because the insurance company is bound by HIPAA regulations
regarding disclosure. But as legal custodian, you shouldn't have been
barred from getting that information. When HIPAA regulations hit, there
was a lot of confusion.
The same has happened with Sarbanes-Oxley. When you turn HR and its perennial inferiority complex loose on the requirement, it errs on the side of sterility. When HR enlists IT in the effort, not a weed nor anything else can grow.
All because the feds say "Don't lie about your finances, public companies, or else." How about, uhh, not lying. Or would that be more costly and complex than a new 'initiative'?
This is all germane to TECHWR-L, because techcomms are routinely called-upon to express internal and public policy. That's not changed if somebody offers an example related to their divorce; in fact that's a rich example.
We're all divorced or will be. It's a metaphor. The world turns on metaphors.
