To translate for those who don't know Linux:

One thing that I forgot to mention is that, if you are so inclined, you
can build the package from the source code so that it's completely
optimized for your system. In fact, at least one major distribution,
Gentoo, builds the entire operating system from the source code.

Not that you have to do this, I hasten to add. If you want, you can take
the standard packages and use them. In fact, that's what most people do.
But the option to get optimum performance is another advantage that
Linux installation has over most Windows programs.
