I have my own personal mantra: That which does not change, dies.

Any company you work for is bound to change - one way or another - and I
change too. So the choice of a job for me is based on current, more
short-term factors - what do I need at this time (money, prestige,
security, whatever) with an eye on long-term goals (career development,
resume, retirement options). I no longer think of this being my last
job. What works for me today might not work for me next year.

And I agree with John - having material possessions is not misplaced
values - it shows I am willing to work hard to have a comfortable life
style. But in the long run, if I have neglected or abused my
relationships for the sake of the hot new Beemer, then I have misplaced

Just my half a cent.

If the company is eventually sold or merged with another, the culture is

likely to change.
