Hi
To debug it, we would probably need to see the code, however the
problem is that Firefox and Internet Explorer support JavaScript
slightly differently, meaning that you would need to access different
methods and properties depending on which browser you were coding for.
In practice you would have "if statements" that first sniff out which
browser it is, then run code for that specific browser.

There's an article here that explains this reasonably well and has a
list of the differences in the Document Object Module employed by both
browsers:

It's also worth noting that drop down menus are not always the best
option, many leading web designers avoid them completely. Sites like
the BBC, Amazon and Eba,y for instance, manage to present a great deal
of information without the use of dropdown DHTML menus.
