RE: The Technical Writer vs. Agile Development Methodologies

Hello everyone!

I was hired by my current employer to specifically document in an
Agile environment.  A pretty new jump for me...even though many
previous projects had a leg in the Agile world.

I can say that it is a pretty simple switch.  I get "modules" to
document and then compile them to a greater whole once the project
nears completion.

As far as the need for documentation goes?  I was a specific need in
the company's evolution.  I've had to (and am still working to) train
the company on what a Technical Writer does and how they work, but
all-in-all, I enjoy the Agile philosophy.

The development team is even going more "Extreme"...so it should be
interesting.  I translate this as having more involvement in the
iteration process.  I also plan on being involved from the first Spec
Doc to the final product.

So to all who are curious, hesitant or a bit intimidated by the Agile
world?  Don't sweat it!  It's actually a preferable method.  It breaks
down the documents into more manageable chunks and gives you a lot
more flexibility.
