I agree with Phil on some of his points -- a clear and direct style is
good. I'll even use contractions.
However, for "enter information, and then press Submit" vs "enter
information, then press Submit"... I have to propose an alternative that
is both concise and grammatically correct:
"Enter information; then press Submit."
