A former supervisor of mine used latched onto that phrase and used it at
least once in every conversation she had with our group. We were already
venturing into new territory with everything we did at that time, so all
she did by constantly telling us that we had to "think outside the box"
was to make us feel that we were somehow failing. I'm sure she meant to
be encouraging, but it didn't come across that way.
