Pragya Gupta wondered: <<I am looking for a good Technical writing course, online, which emphasis on documentation tools and XML. I googled on net but found the courses to be pretty expensive. These courses are billed in Dollars and are quite expensive in terms of Indian Rupees. Can any one suggest me some effective course on Technical writing without being heavy on pocket?>>

If you're in India, try hooking up with the India chapter of STC ( They should be able to point out academic programs given by Indian professors--thus, given at Indian rates instead of Western rates.

STC itself offers a database of academic programs ( that will let you search for the available options. Try "distance education" under the heading "Select a program".

If you're the right kind of person, a good textbook may provide everything you need, for much less money and on your own schedule rather than on someone else's schedule. is a good place to look for titles, most of which will have reviews of varying degrees of reliability. Look for reviews that describe why something is good or bad and ignore reviews that say only "it's great / it sucks". The former let you decide whether you agree; the latter only give you someone else's opinion.
