Storyboarding is definitely what you want to do. think of this like what it
actually is, creating a movie.
We create a lot of Flash-based elearning with Captivate ( similar product)
here is the process we've found to work best.

1. Decide what the story or plot is, and script out the flow. I like to do
this with flow charts.
2. Storyboard the whole project, intro screens, app feature demos, exit &
conclusion screens. You can do this with something like SnagIt and
powerpoint or you can scribble in a notebook, but a storyboard is
absolutely your best bet.
3. If you are recording audio too, finalize the script. Write down every
word you are going to record. Read, Edit, Repeat. Practice over and over
until you can recite it from memory and then still have the printed page
for reference. Better yet, if your budget allows hire professional voice
talent. Local news/media personalities often do this kind of work and there
are Internet resources available as well.
4. Record your audio. May seem like you could kill two birds with one stone
by recording the screen and audio at the same time. You'll get far better
results if you record the audio first and then listen to the audio as you
record the screen.
5. Create open/close graphics and add to the movie.
6. Publish.

Lastly keep in mind that the average person speaks at about 120
words-per-minute, and the average person thinks at about 800 words per
minute, so be creative in coming up with something to occupy that 680 wpm
gap. Also the average person will shut down within 10 minutes so try to
cause some interaction between the demo and the user ever 5-6 minutes. We
like quiz questions but, then again I develop training so perhaps may be
something more along the lines of "fun facts" ala Good Eats, about the
product that the user will have to read.

I've been assigned to put together a demo of our software that will run
off of our website. I'm really excited, I've always wanted to try that.

They've given me Turbo Demo, which looks like a pretty good product.

I want to make this look as good as possible, but I'm really not sure of
how to start. The software actually records what you're doing with the
product you're demo-ing, but I can't seem to get a flow down that comes
out right. I feel like maybe I should storyboard it, but I don't want to
waste time if there's a better way.

Can someone point me to articles or advice on this subject?

Thanks so much,

Anne
