Excellent thought, Ed, but not in this case. My original problem
was with embedded Visio OLE objects. OOo ain't gonna sort those,
and I need them more than the bookmarks.

But I take the point: a quick import and clean-up in OOo, then
Export As PDF would handle the TOC/bookmark thing nicely.

Interesting thing I learned on the way out the door tonight (off to
the STC-TechValley War Council meeting): a colleague working with
the same MS Word doc in OOo (yeah, we're all geeks) noticed that OOo
handled some MS Equation objects in the same doc without so much as
a burp. Good to know, since those equations *wouldn't* render on my
XP install -- cuz, uhh, while the Equation Editor is perfectly well
installed and re-installed and has been rolfed in darkest Microsoft
KB ways, that bit of OLE just isn't in the _mood_ to work.
