The last time that I worked for a small company (7 people), I did. We
had a receptionist, but when she was busy and couldn't get to the phone,
anyone else who wasn't busy would answer it. We also greeted people who
came in if the receptionist wasn't available, ran the copy machines (it
was a print shop where I was a typesetter/desktop publisher), shrink
wrapped stuff, hauled boxes, made deliveries, and ran out to get lunch
for each other.

In a small company--or even in a small department--you get to wear a lot
of hats. Keeps the job interesting. :-)
