Thanks for the link. I wasn't aware of the SAE standard.

But in typical standards organisation stupidity, you can't have access to
anything of interest until you plunk down 600$ for the CD-ROM.

If they want adoption outside the automotive industry and others forced to
use the standard, they have to release at least a minimum of information
to the public. Oh well, guess I won't be looking at it any closer any time
soon.
