Miles per hour is mph. M.P.H. is Master of Public Health and is as valid and formal a degree as M.D. (although I'm using periods here just to follow along with Al's use of AP (or is that A.P.) style. I typically eliminate all periods in degrees: AB, BA, MS, PhD, MD, ... Nobody has ever complained to me about it, and nobody has ever found it confusing.
