Well, make up your mind. Do 'we all know' such a thing - in which case the
laws are clearly unnecessary - or do we not?

If 'everyone knows it', the laws are pointless. And for those who DON'T know
it - they aren't likely to be very successful in business for very long, so
the sooner they're allowed to fail the better. Why foist poor unsuspecting
job seekers on idiots who think more about age or sex or skin color so the
idiot can foul up both of their lives?
