Assuming that I had the resources, what I would prefer would be
a basically generalist course with labwork targeted to the students'
specialties. To do this right the in-house English faculty could deliver the generalist portion of the course, but adjunce instructors with actual hands-on industry experience writing for the specialties would administer the labs, or at least prepare the materials for them.
