Open the original
Go to Tools/Compare and Merge Documents
Select the file you want to compare the original to.
I usually deselect Find Formatting
Use the drop down on the Merge button to select Merge into new document (the
default just sticks the two together, which makes a mess).

The new document will show the differences between the two as tracked
changes. It's not perfect, but it ain't half bad either.

Hello Everyone,

In MS Word, what is the best feature or feature combination to use to
compare two MS Word documents and have the differences between them
automatically redlined or highlighted in some manner?

Thanks for the help.

- Tony
