How's this for a differential, Kevin? Rates in Canada on average equate
to the median of the US market dollar for dollar, that is, Cd$ X per
hour in one Canadian city is equated with US$ X p/h in a comparable US
city.

Unfortunately, a dollar is a dollar and Canada's real consumer price
index is roughly between 1.25 and 1.5 times that of the US. So in the
long run, the northerner's purchasing power is far less than his US
counterpart. Wanna test this hypothesis? Visit honda.com then compare
honda.ca!

By the way Gene, that's Ott*a*wa. Kinda like that Microsoft video
tutorial in which the instructor made consistent references to Loose
Jaw, Saskatchewan. Um...that's like...Moose Jaw! Loose Jaw indeed!
Sounds like the nickname of a southern head of state. :^ (Ok, I'll head
off the rebuttals now by saying "Who cares"! Anyway...I was just sayin')

I'm not familiar with the cost of living on Ottowa, but...

I've been wrong before (stop that snickering), but isn't
$100K in a place like New York (NY) or Silicon Valley
about the same as $85K in a place like... hmm Ottawa?

When you consider relative costs of living - housing being
a big one, barrista-dispensed coffee being another (for
many people), a higher salary in one place would be
offset by those higher ongoing costs for essentials, wouldn't they?

Kevin (in Ottawa)
