My car now contains a very basic first aid kit, blanket, water etc. I also never let my car get below a half tank of gas. A habit I picked up from living in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, and traveling 2.5 hours back and forth to Houghton in the winter. Where my car contained a virtual hotel room in a trunk, including jackets and food for the dogs, which traveled with me a lot of the time.
