Depending on circumstances it can make perfect sense, and
be one of the upsides of consulting.  If you're working under
a contract that specifies your requirements, schedules,
deliverables and dependencies in detail, the first thing you
do when the client asks for more work, different deliverables
or fails to meet dependencies that fall on them (such as a
two-week turnaround for reviews), the first thing you do at
a management review is pull out your Gantt or other timeline
chart and illustrate the impact their request or failure to
conform to their agreed-upon schedule milestone is going
to have on delivery date and cost.  If the slip is the result
of your internal issues, the client can certainly reject your
proposed revisions, but the chart is still a good way to
illustrate the current situation and what you're going to do
to recover (assuming you have a recovery plan to pitch and
are not just doing the presentation to make it even clearer
how badly you've fouled up).
