Just to toss in another perspective ...

Mostly I agree with what Dori is saying, namely that in technology
companies it's hard to impose template discipline and it's generally
more productive to bring in an editor.

Both you and Dori call this person an editor, but I would call the
position desktop publisher. Now, a DTP may edit, and an editor may
DTP, but they are different subtasks, aren't they?
