Hi Karen,

I deliberately deleted all of your post, with the exception of the two
most important sentences. I would take those two to every interview, and
I would use them as the guiding principle behind your resume and cover
letter composition.

You can easily learn some RoboHelp and create a few sample projects. You
can also go to SourceForge and volunteer to create someone's online Help
and manuals, so you'll have real-world experience in your electronic
portfolio.

Some companies will only hire people who have 10 years' experience using
specific tools. Other companies have been burned by hiring people who
knew the tools but lacked everything else ("writing, organizing,
researching, and interviewing". That second group is a good target for
you.
