I have all those skills including project management, business modeling,
RUP, Rational tools, and UML. It does pay better, but I still like tech
writing the best.

It does provide more options when work is scarce, though. I am also a
qualified software tester too.

Writing is just more satisfying. :-) Shorter hours, too, usually.

A real business analyst is much in demand as a project management
professional (PMP). It is much more sophisticated than requirements
engineering and documentation. BA's have special skills with project
management, workflow processes, business modeling, and software such as
UML (uniform modeling language), use cases, entity-relationship diagrams
(ERDs) and relational database concepts, object-oriented technologies
(Rational Rose, object-oriented analysis, object-oriented design,
object-oriented programming), and the systems development lifecycle
(SDLC).
