...The marketing manager at one of my jobs was offended by the following
line:
"This tutorial will teach you how to XXXXXX" where the XXXXXX was the target
lesson for the tutorial.
He insisted on the following rewrite:
"This tutorial will empower you with the knowledge to XXXXXX." or something
similar to that. I don't quite remember.
Nothing like using five words to replace one word. Gotta love those
marketing types that don't have a clue about the difference between helping
the customer after the sale as opposed to trying to convince them to buy the
product.
