Anything on paper, I might have writtrn myself, even if it's on letterhead.
But more importantly, no one has ever asked for one since I was applying
for college. Usually it's HR who wants References information anyway, and
they always want to contact people directly.

Presumably, you gave notice because you have another job already. If so,
you no longer need the letter of recommendation. At least that's how I
interpreted the sentence.
